Care institution Beth Shalom (Cordaan) offers space to people with a Jewish background. Same-d transformed the courtyard garden and restaurant into a city park where residents, staff, carers, volunteers and other visitors can meet each other spontaneously. It is precisely the promotion of these encounters that is an important part of the wellbeing and well-being of the elderly.
Phase 1 of the transformation, the refurbishment of the restaurant, was recently opened by the mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema.
By applying a number of features that recall the Jewish identity, such as the Star of David in the floor and the hanging plants inspired by the hanging gardens of Babylon, a familiar, healthy and cheerful environment will be created for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors.
